The BauFin Box goes into your vehicle’s OBD socket — 2 minutes, no garage needed. The SIM card with data is already inside.
Drive
Every trip is detected and recorded automatically. Kilometres come straight from the car’s odometer — accurate to the kilometre. For the first 48 hours the system checks by itself which data your car delivers reliably.
The system works
Trips are classified as business or private automatically — based on your client addresses and known places (site, wholesaler, petrol station, home). If a trip ends in a known zone, the system fills in the purpose by itself.
Tax-office ready
The mileage log is built 1:1 from GPS data, days are sealed GoBD-compliant and exported as PDF. Missing a purpose? The system reminds you before the 7-day case-law deadline runs out.

Every receipt gets a GPS confirmation. The one that matches no stop of a company vehicle at a station stands out immediately — and that is the one to explain.
What fuel really costs you
Fuel costs and the average price per litre right on the dashboard — no adding up receipts. The system knows German filling stations by itself and the list refreshes every month.

Tax-tight
Mileage allowance only for private vehicles (double-deduction ban § 4 (5) no. 6 EStG), commuter allowance 0,38 €/km from the 1st km (2026). The system knows the rules — you don’t have to.

Overnight trips
If the vehicle stays overnight away from home and from your base, the system reads those days as one trip, shows the meal allowance with and without an overnight stay, and asks whether you really slept away. It merges the days only after your answer — people sleep somewhere, not vans.

Back at base while your recorded working time is still running? The day view shows the working part and the plain standstill separately — from a quarter of an hour up.

Does the plug fit my car?
Practically every vehicle with an OBD-II socket (mandatory since 2004, diesels since 2007). Plug in and done — no garage needed. After connection the system checks for 48 hours which data your model delivers.
Will the tax office accept this mileage log?
The log is kept promptly, without gaps and without silent edits — exactly what case law demands. Closed days are sealed (GoBD), changes are only possible as documented corrections, and the purpose of every business trip is added within the 7-day deadline.
What about my employees’ privacy?
Tracking employee vehicles only with documented consent; private periods can be excluded. All data stays on servers in the EU — no US services.
What if I drive both privately and for business?
The system classifies trips automatically — by client addresses and known places. Any trip can be reclassified with one click. Tax rules (private vs company vehicle) are built in.
What if the device fails or gets unplugged?
